Fifth and final stage is done. It’s been an amazing week and I am sure I am getting better and more confident off road. Today started out on wet grass followed by a river crossing. The days drama was provided by a very steep, long sandy section. There was a lingering smell of fried clutch in the air. That and a dry river bed that was not so dry in places provided variety.

Another stage, another set of casualties. Stage 2 continued with at least 1 injury I saw in the ambulance, and multiple bikes having technical problems. The stage was shorter than yesterday but still had its share of rocks and ruts. I done my good dead by helping a guy on a GS up a loose rocky incline. I also had a little tumble after loosing the backend on a steep downhill. All well though. To make up for it the Bosnian landscape is really stunning.

Stage 1 is done. It was hard going at times some very long and steep rocky accents and descents. Caused a lot of problems for the bigger bikes. There were some casualties, including one that got a ride with the paramedics. I started at 08:43 this morning and covered 150km out of 270km before having to bail and take the road so that I could be back at the bivouac by 18:00.

Today was a little roadbook instruction and a quick 65km prolog. There were some rocky inclines but nothing too technical. Some riders were a bit apprehensive about some of the muddier sections though and it caused a bit of a traffic jam in a couple of places.
